11 metal rings
'Private Spaces' was an exhibition situated within the historic Literary and Philosophical Society of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Cat Auburn, Alexandra Brunt, Estella Castle, Alex Harmon and Markos Sotiriou staged sculptural and painterly interventions in The Committee Room, a ‘members only’ space that was open only for a day to the public. The artists invited visitors to join them in this special part of the library to speculate over private musings and playful interventions that reflected the intersections between what is public and what is private.
The rings were carefully curated around the library room and visitors were asked to find all eleven of them. That turned into a treasure hunt, transforming the drawings-that-wanted-to-be-sculptures into items of value.
